Definition

Percent of youth with IEPs dropping out of high school.

Snapshot Summary

Historically, a gap has existed in drop out rates for students with and without IEPs in Illinois. However, this gap is decreasing. The plan was for no more that 5% of students with IEPs to drop out by 2012. This target was reached; the actual number of students with IEPs dropping out in 2012 was 3.9%.

  • Why did the student not receive and graduate with a diploma?

  • What factors lead to other students completing high school and graduating from high school with a regular diploma?

  • How can the district decrease the gap in graduation rates between students with disabilities and students without disabilities?

  • How can we better support students with disabilities and decrease the dropout rate for students with disabilities?
