Laying the Groundwork: Unit 1- Effective and Sustainable Systems

Description: Effective and Sustainable Systems is the first unit of the four unit series Laying the Groundwork:  Preparing to Build a Multi-Tiered System of     Supports within the Context of Continuous School Improvement.

(Note: Although there are no prerequisites, it is highly recommended that these units be completed in order.)

This interactive course is designed to support district leaders and district leadership teams in understanding, assessing, and applying a system approach that results in positive outcomes for ALL students, staff, and community.  Participants will make immediate connections to their current work through  guided opportunities in identifying system barriers, problem solving, and  planning for sustainable change.

Essential Element(s): Leadership, Comprehensive Planning

Outcomes Include:

  • Understanding why a systems approach results in improved outcomes
  • Identifying systems-thinking benefits and barriers
  • Planning for capacity building and sustainable change

Intended Audience: District Leadership Team Members and Coaches.                     Session is open to anyone who would like to participate
