Unit 3 - Building an Effective Teaming Culture

Building an Effective Teaming Culture is the third unit of the four unit series Laying the Groundwork - Preparing to Build a Multi-Tiered System of Supports within the Context of Continuous School Improvement.

(Note: Although there are no prerequisites, it is highly recommended that these units be completed in order.)

Teaming is a collaborative process, inclusive of stakeholder representation, which can help the individual, team, and organization learn and grow.  Productive teamwork has the power to change the culture of schools and makes continuous learning and improvement possible and manageable (Johnson, 2003).  This interactive course is designed to enable district leaders to develop and support purposeful teams that work toward systemic and improved outcomes for ALL students.  It will provide information and guidance to districts interested in developing high performing teams in a multi-tiered system of supports within the context of school improvement.

Essential Element(s): Comprehensive Planning, Leadership, and Community and Family Engagement

Outcomes for Participants Include Gaining an Understanding that:

  • The purpose of teams is to meet the organizational mission, vision, and goals, and apply principles of teaming to their district’s team;
  • High performing teams provide an opportunity for collaboration with all stakeholder groups, and apply collaborative teaming to their district’s teams; and
  • High performing teams are part of a communication system, and apply a planning process to reach intended outcomes.

Intended Audience: District Leadership Team Members and Coaches.                    Session is open to anyone who would like to participate.

Cost: There is no cost for this training.
